Say a Little Prayer

"Prayer does not change things; prayer changes people, and people change things."  Lon Ray Call.

That is, I believe, the only call we need to try and put some time aside for prayer.  Prayer will help to make us ready for the tasks we have in hand, and we are simply too busy not to pray.

Rowan Williams describes prayer as the 'unblocking of the waters of the fountain of life that springs up in us'.  Those waters can refresh, restore and repair our lives.

Prayer does not belong to any particular religious tradition, indeed it is something that, under many different names, is practised both within and without religious traditions.  Prayer can remind us of our place in the world, and can help us to reconcile our own worlds in times of stress and doubt.  It can replace feelings of hurt with reminders of love.

Living In The Now

Click here for: MP3 - Sevenoaks Unitarians, 06 Feb 11. Living in the Now

"What lies behind us, and what lies before us are small matters, compared to what lies within us." - Ralph Waldo Emerson.

This morning we considered the importance of living in the Now. The need to understand the truths around and within us at any one particular time; and that Truth may be relative. As the Buddha said, 'Believe only what you yourself judge to be true.'
